New Knowledge Point Sources
TREASURES:
There are new one-time treasures in the Zaralek Caverns that grant 3 Knowledge Points each. Engineers get 8 of them, while other crafting professions get 3. See the locations
RENOWN:
There are books rewarded at renown 12 with the Loamm Niffen – 10 points for each profession (except engineering).
GATHERING:
There’s a new prefix for herbs – “Lambent“, and for ore – “Metamorphic” – so new knowledge points are possible for gathering & overloading these nodes for the first time. Harvesting from them will give you Zaralek Glowspores, which is an ingredient for many of the new recipes, but most importantly, Dracothyst, which is needed for high-end gear upgrades, and quite valuable. Overloading these nodes will give you additional glowspores.
Double gatherers: if you are a miner & herbalist, you can collect propogated spores (a bundle of glowspores) by harvesting from both a lambent herb and metamorphic ore within 2 minutes of each other.
Miners: serevite & draconium seams were added in 10.7 – 2 more points possible if you missed those. They’re found mostly in caves.
VENDOR:
Ponzo sells 2 knowledge point granting books, and deals in the new currency barter bricks- see below.
BARTER BRICKS:
Barter bricks are a new time-gated / limited resource used primarily for profession advancement.
You can get them from:
- Weekly quests – you can get 10 bricks a week from 2 quests that you pick up from Kayann, located in Valdrakken, next to the craft order station. These require you to turn in misc. crafted items to vendors in Loamm.
- Doing a dig with Myritt can get you anywhere from 0-5 bricks.
- The waterlogged bundle treasure (/way 62.1 55.3) – this appears to reset daily, and have a high, but not guaranteed drop rate.
- Ritual Offerings- these treasures, located in the Zaqali Caldera, appear to reset daily, and have a high, but not guaranteed drop rate. You can usually find 3-4 of them.
- The one-time quest “Get Rich Quick” from Ponzo rewards 1 brick.
- The one-time quest “Bartering 101” from Ponzo rewards 10 bricks. It requires renown 3 with Loamm Niffen.
You can spend them on:
- New Recipes – vendors in a circle outside of the Loamm inn will sell you recipes which cost either 1 Ponzo Cream (25 Barter Bricks) or 1 Glimmerogg Timeshare Voucher (80 Barter Bricks). You buy the cream & vouchers from Ponzo. Some of the recipes are BoP, others are not.
- Ponzo will sell you 2 books for each profession that grant 5 knowledge points each. They cost 35 & 90 barter bricks.
- Ponzo also sells a pet, mount and 3 Slitherdrake transmogs.
